As part of our commitment to fostering relationships with small disadvantaged businesses, Abacus Technology has participated in more than 15 Mentor Protégé programs. These programs are created to combine the resources, stability, and experience of a large, established business (mentor) with the innovation and energy of a small, emerging, disadvantaged business (protégé).
As an 8(a) graduate in 1995, Abacus Technology has always recognized the importance of its roots and our corporate responsibility to give back. In 1997, we established our first Mentor Protégé relationship with Comnet Sciences Corporation and were later recognized by the Department of Defense with the Nunn-Perry Award for outstanding advisory assistance in advancing the capabilities of Comnet as a viable Government services contractor.
Our Mentor-Protégé activities are designed so that all parties involved benefit by participating in them. Abacus Technology’s concept of operations as a mentor is to:
- Enhance the administrative capabilities (e.g., accounting, staffing, security) of our protégés by helping them develop their overall business practices and IT infrastructure
- Integrate protégés into Abacus marketing efforts to jointly gain access to new clients and collaborate on new business ventures of mutual interest
- Establish long-term working relationships through technology transfer and strategic contracting so that together we may provide exceptional, tailored support to our customers.
Working together with our protégé companies, we are ideally suited to provide government agencies with the technical, management, and analytical services required to support critical defense missions and civilian programs.
